Tour du Mont Blanc Cycling Tour - achievable in 2 days, or a more leisurely pace of up to 5 days

​

The Tour du Mont Blanc cycling tour by road bike - a 330km ride over 7 major alpine cols climbing a total of 8800 M around Western Europe's highest peak.

 

Ability level - Strong riders: 2 days, or if you are not training for the Tour de France, a more leisurely pace over 3 or 4 days.

​

The cyclist's Tour du Mont Blanc has become one of the epic rides through the Alps and a 'must do' as you circuit Western Europe's highest peak Mont Blanc (4810M).

 

Very strong riders complete the ride in a day in the annual Mont Blanc Granfondo however you can tailor your ride of the Tour du Mont Blanc to 2 days upwards, usually in 3 or 4 days of cycling.

 

 

A brief outline of the cyclist's Tour du Mont Blanc in 4 riding days

 

Day 1 - Cycling from the capital of the Alps, Chamonix Mont-Blanc and riding over the Col des Montets, Col de la Forclaz, and the Montee du Champex-Lac

 

Day 2 -  Riding from Champex Lac the Tour du Mont Blanc then joins the Grand St Bernard pass and into Italy. Descending into the Aosta Valley for the gentle climb up the lower slopes of the Col de la Petit St Bernard to La Thuile.

Day 3 - From La Thuile, summit the Col de la Petit St Bernard pass where some of the original 'Italian Job' movie with Michael Caine was filmed. At the summit, you cross back into France and the long descent to Bourg St Maurice. Literally 400M on the flat and then the climb of the Cormet de Roselend begins. Over the top and it's down to Beaufort, the home of Reblochon cheese.

 

Day 4. The final big Col, the Col des Saisies before dropping down through Megeve and then gently riding back up to Chamonix Mont-Blanc to complete the circuit of Mont Blanc.
